A Life in Performance and Chamber Music
Dr. Brett Walfish is a violist and chamber musician performing historically informed, collaborative, and contemporary repertoire throughout the United States and internationally.
Valencia Baryton Project
Dr. Walfish is a core member of the Valencia Baryton Project, a historically informed ensemble centered on the rare baryton and Haydn’s baryton trios. The ensemble performs in traditional trio format as well as expanded chamber configurations, with Dr. Walfish contributing to artistic planning, programming, and stylistic interpretation. The group is under contract for a forthcoming Naxos recording of Haydn’s baryton trios.

Historically Informed Performance
Alongside his work with the Valencia Baryton Project, Dr. Walfish brings a historically informed approach to a wide range of chamber repertoire, drawing on stylistic research and period practice to shape interpretation and ensemble sound.

Tango
Dr. Walfish’s work as a tango scholar and performer extends his interest in interpretive tradition beyond the classical chamber repertoire, informing the color and rhythmic nuance he brings to collaborative performance.
